Annual Rally

rally.jpg (37691 bytes)

Four Club Rally detectorists posing in the sun at the rally site. They are from left to right Bryan Downes, Dai Hayes, Stephen Smith and Andrew Wright. The Chairman, Steve Smith, is the one with the legs !

The club annual rally was held on Sunday 18th June. It was a beautiful day and the weather was perfect for metal detecting.

The award for the Best Natural Find went to Mark Attenborough for his Edward III hammered silver penny. Well done Mark !

Twelve members attended and recovered twenty out of the twenty five buried tokens. The tokens were exchanged at the next club meeting for sealed envelopes containing £5 or £20. Eleven members were lucky enough to find at least one token but unfortunately, Martin Wright returned home empty handed. All together now, a big ahh for Martin !

Welcome to ...

Brian Jackson who has been a metal detectorist, with a break of a few years, since 1974. We all hope that Brian's membership of the Club will be a long and happy one.

Jeff's Theme Nights

The following themes have been selected by Jeff Oscroft for member's displays at club meetings. They are :

October Civil Badges and buttons
November Barrel locks and keys
December Rings
January Roman bronze coins

Please make the effort to support theme nights. It gives everyone a chance to compare finds and see what others have found. Don't be put off by the word 'display' being used to describe items brought by members. Anything relating to the theme is acceptable from a single item to an elaborate presentation.
